Hi! My name is Summer Johnson and I am the Counselor at Handley Middle School. As a child, I admired my teachers so much that each afternoon I would teach my stuffed animals with extra workbooks the school would let me keep. I graduated from Handley High School in 2006 and attended Southern Union on a dance scholarship. After graduating from SU, I immediately began my degree in education. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Elementary Education from Troy University. I was hired to teach at HMS in 2012 and spent much of my time in the classroom building relationships with my students. It did not take long for me to know that my dream was to become the School Counselor. After 9 years of teaching math, I was hired as the counselor at HMS and I am convinced there is no better job in the world! I love my job as well as each student that I come in contact with each and every day.
